While many Mendoza Malbecs go for power and opulence as their party trick, this one is a little more restrained, but if you decant it for a couple of hours, it does wonders for its confidence and it really comes out of its shell. It takes a cooler line of fruit, which allows it to expand gradually in the mouth, as opposed to lots of broad up-front fruit. Think of an arrowhead. It's more effective when it enters point first. Now that I have compared this wine to being shot in the face with an arrow, I will leave you in more capable hands...

The Wine Advocate: ""The nose of the 2014 Malbec is remarkably similar to the 2013 showing high-pitched aromas of wild berries and flowers. It's in the palate where you find a little more savouriness, perhaps more spicy flavours with a slightly bitter finish. It's a blend of grapes from different location across Mendoza that represents very well what is the Achával-Ferrer interpretation of Malbec." 91 points
