Amares Cabernet Sauvignon, Stellenbosch, South Africa 2010

Sourced from vines situated next to two of Stellenbosch’s most prized vineyards (Rustenberg and Glenelly) this is everything you could possibly want from a Cabernet Sauvignon, displaying gorgeous high tones of cassis, mint, capsicum and cedar and a palate characterised by silky elegance and succulent ripeness, with the discreet structure hidden behind a wealth of fruit. With 7 years of ageing behind it, the flavours have fused together harmoniously and there’s a Napa Valley richness emerging. Cabernets can sometimes be stern, mean even, but this one is so delectably sweet-fruited that your mouth will roll out the red carpet to welcome it! 15% alc. Drink now-2019.

Customer comments on the 2009 vintage:

"Tried the Cabernet - thought it was wonderful given the price; certainly as good as some wines that I have paid twice as much for (and not as overpowering as I was expecting for a SA wine)." - Mr M.M.

“It’s delicious and tastes like a much more expensive Bordeaux.” Mr. S.L.

"I am currently trying the Stellenbosch one and I really love it!" - Mr. R.C., 14th June 2015

"I tasted it last night amongst some much more expensive wines and liked it very much." - Mr. J.C., 3rd March 2016

"I had to produce wines for the local church Harvest Festival last Sunday. We had the usual PC collection of assorted quiches, salad and coleslaw prepared by the ladies of the parish. Pretty disappointing fare for a Sunday lunch so I decided to enliven proceedings by serving the excellent Amares Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 which went down a treat – the vicar got quite emotional about it and the churchwarden was later seen asleep on the bench in the graveyard (all true)." - Mr. C.W., October 2016

Note: as it is unfiltered it throws a lot of sediment, so please decant or pour the last drops carefully!
