A great Amarone should taste like Lord Byron's stag night. It should be a riot of flavour, outrageously hedonistic, as well as dark and brooding. Pieropan has done wonders to combine those elements in this gorgeous wine, but we only have a few bottles, so don't dilly dally.

Ian D'Agata: "Vivid red. Intensely perfumed nose of red cherry, rose, violet, cinnamon, bay leaf and quinine. Then dense and juicy, with an almost seamless quality to the suave red cherry and red berry flavors. Picks up an enticing spicy note on the long, lively and very clean finish. Remarkably precise Amarone of non pareil-purity. Doesn’t taste at all like it has 16.5% alcohol; my early candidate for one of the top three Amarones of the vintage." 94+ points
