We’re beginning to think that Michel Gahier could be the next superstar to emerge from the Jura and that fills us with a mixture of emotions. It’s analogous to a little local restaurant, which you want to tell the world about, but you don’t want the world to turn up and take all the tables. So let’s see what happens, but his wines are still honestly-priced despite volumes being minuscule, whereas Ganevat and Houillon have gone through the roof. Gahier’s Trousseau ‘Les Grands Vergers’ is a lean, flinty, sappy red full of redcurrant, cranberry and raspberry fruit. It’s fine if you like that sort of thing. Please don’t order any.
