Nothing gives us greater pleasure than finding a wine like this, which we can offer for less than £10.00 a bottle. It has bags of personality, authentic varietal character, evocative Italian flavours and even if all of the aforementioned points are circumstantial, it's just a really tasty drink. You can take this to a dinner party with pride, safe in the knowledge that your host will think you've not only splashed out more than a tenner, but also that you've shown some imagination in your selection.

Cesanese is a grape variety that is grown mostly in the hills around Rome and, if handled carefully like this, makes wines with a supple and succulent cherry character that are dangerously quaffable, but display enough intrigue as the flavours glide past to make your tastebuds to a double-take. This one has such polished tannins and some of the 'tar and roses' aromas that characterise Barolo, that you could mistake it for quite a serious northern Italian red, but with a much softer structure and a gentler aspect to the fruit. Outstanding value! 13% alc. Drink now-2019.

Warning: If you are still not convinced, then we will have to resort to threatening behaviour. If you don't buy this wine we will give you an earworm that you simply can't get rid of. Still not persuaded? Right, you've asked for it. Try saying Cesanese to the tune of 'In the Navy' by the Village People. Now try getting that out of your head! You're welcome.
