"This sensational 2011 transcends the vintage as well as the reputation of the appellation.... This is about as good as a Lalande de Pomerol can be. " - Robert Parker

If you walk about half a mile due west from the vineyards of this chateau you will find yourself standing in the vineyards of Chateau Petrus. I realise that proximity doesn't mean that two locations are interchangeable (if I walk half a mile from my house, I will find myself in the Thames), but I mention it here to show that although this wine comes from the 'satellite appellation' of Lalande-de-Pomerol, it is so close to one of the greatest sites in Pomerol that the arbitrary lines on a map don't tell the whole story, but even so, it is e wine itself that is the best raconteur. The aromas are quite simply majestic. It's everything we hope to find in a Pomerol, with the heady, blackcurrant scent of the Cabernet Franc lifted by the plump, fleshy warmth of Merlot grown on a perfect site. 13.5% alc. Drink now-2025

Press review:

The Wine Advocate:
"A big-time sleeper of the vintage from proprietor Silvio Denz, this sensational 2011 transcends the vintage as well as the reputation of the appellation. It exhibits a dense ruby/purple colour along with plenty of chocolatey berry fruit and a plump, full-bodied, opulent, layered style. This is about as good as a Lalande de Pomerol can be. Drink now to 2022." 90 points
