Decelle-Villa buy some of their grapes from trusted growers, but they own the ‘Les Poiriers’ vineyard and they farm it organically, which is their ultimate goal as they aim to become a fully-fledged domaine within the next few years. This Chorey-les-Beaune captures that elusive red Burgundy aroma of je ne sais quoi combined with a certain something. There’s probably no need to expand on that, other than to say that it tastes of molten rubies and silk. It comes from a site with deep soils, which winemaker, Jean Lupatelli, believes confers charming and expressive aromas to the wine. This is certainly a charmer with soft and tender tannins, due in main part to the ripeness of the fruit , but also to the fact that they steam the Seguin-Moreau barrels in order to the open the pores of the wood, allowing for a softer maturation. 10% new oak. 13.2% alc. Drink now-2025.
