While the aim of many a non-interventionist wine may be noble, the outcome often isn't. Domaine La Baronne seem to have judged the hands-off approach perfectly, like a good parent knowing when to step in and when to step back. They've really allowed the fruit to shine here and it sings of the South, of hillside herbs, of lavender and violets of olives and ripe black fruits. It's a blend of Syrah, Carignan and Mourvedre, and, unlike many a Corbieres, the fruit isn't mulchy or thick-set, making you feel like you need to put waders on just to get through it, but flighty and silky and mouthwateringly delicious. Organic. 13.8% alc.
