“Our Merlot is not what many think when they hear Californian Merlot.” - Jared Brandt, owner

It’s wines like this that remind us why Merlot can make some of the most beautiful wines in the world (Masseto anyone? Petrus perhaps?). It also makes some of the worst, but why focus on the negative when there are wines like this to enjoy. Subtle, nuanced wines, that swim against the tide and hold their complex flavours in a light and fragile frame, as graceful and tender as the finest Saint Julien. If you are a fan of Chateau Talbot and its ilk, we think you might find this a very rewarding alternative. The flavours are simply beautiful. 13.2% alc. Unfined, unfiltered, low sulphur and only at bottling. Drink now-2030.

Press review:

Vinous:
Made with 40% whole clusters and aged for 20 months in neutral French oak barrels. Full ruby. Vibrant red berry and floral scents are complemented by hints of peppery spices, succulent herbs and rose oil. Sweet, seamless and focused on the palate, offering juicy raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavours that deepen slowly with air. Shows very good focus and energy on the long, fruit-driven finish, which is shaped by sneaky tannins.” 91 points
