Envinate Lousas 'Camino Novo', Ribeira Sacra, Spain 2017

34.00

A blend of Mencía and other local grapes from 70 year-old vines in a "south-east" facing single parcel located in Amandi at 430 metres elevation, foot-stomped and fermented with whole-clusters in an small open vat. It’s fairly deep in colour with a refined aroma not unlike a great Syrah from the Rhone. Dark, briary fruits with a twist of black pepper. Young, of course, but so pure and fine with the softest kiss of tannins. Amazingly long! 13% alc. Drink now-2025.

Press review:

The Wine Advocate: “Camiño Novo is always the most elegant and complete wine from Envínate in Ribeira Sacra, and the 2017 Lousas Parcela Camiño Novo follows the same path. This was harvested two weeks after the Seoane, after the rain, and the wine is very expressive with incredibly fine tannins, a fine thread and subtle minerality. It doesn't quite reach the same height as the 2016, but this is simply superb and perhaps more approachable. I'd drink the 2017 while I wait a bit longer for the 2016. Drink now-2025.“ 95 points
