"The filigreed and finesse-full Pinot Noir with its subtle power and length is one of my personal German favourites." - Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate

A great Pinot Noir should haunt your senses. Not just at the time of drinking it, but weeks, months, even years afterwards. Its aromas should arise unbidden like spectres, ethereal and unforgettable. I've often found myself distracted in the middle of some daily task, head cocked to one side, remembering a bottle of Gevrey-Chambertin from Domaine Fourrier or brought to a halt while strolling through the countryside, staring cloudwards, like some wistful poet, recalling that very first sip of an Oregon Pinot Noir. We can't guarantee that this wine will will stop you in your tracks, but it has all the beguiling aromatic charm and sensual flavours that we hope you won't forget in a hurry. Biodynamic, spontaneous fermentation and malolactic. Aged in 225- and 500-litre oak barrels for two years. Unfiltered. 13.1% alc. Drink now-2023.

The Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Pinot Noir Kalkstein shows a very clear, fresh, rather coolish and spicy bouquet of dark fruits intertwined with smoky, white pepper and herbal aromas. This is still a very young and fruity, but also complex and Burgundian Pinot Noir with great finesse and purity on the nose. Silky textured and extremely well balanced, this is an intense and stringent but very elegant wine; there is beautiful freshness and mineral structure. The finish is fresh, precise, long, full of tension and reveals the chalky soils of the origins; the finish is spicy and intense but not alcoholic - it is long and full of tension." 93 points

Jancis Robinson.com (Tamlyn Currin): "Real purity of red fruit on the nose. Folded layers of flavour on the palate with gentle spices and an edge of orange peel and nutmeg clad in pliant, silky tannins. But persistently running through it all, that vein of pure, translucent red fruit reflected back from the nose, defining the whole wine. Soprano elegance.  Drink 2017-2022." 17 points
