Here’s a curiosity a Pinot Noir from Piedmont. Given that Barolo is often compared to red Burgundy, thanks to its haunting aromas and pale colour, it makes sense to produce a Pinot Noir in the land of Nebbiolo and if this is anything to go by, it’s a recipe for success.

Looking at the wine in the glass, you could easily mistake it for a Barolo with a bit of age. It’s a lovely pale brick red colour and the aromas are so fine and pretty, suggesting rhubarb, red flowers and sour cherry. The palate is zippy and zesty, with sour plum and blood orange, which might make it sound like it will make your eyes water, but there’s enough sweet strawberry fruit to keep it balanced. 11% alc. Drink now-2024.
