Claus Preisinger says that this is how his grandfather used to make wine back in the day. Infrequent pump-overs, light extraction, carbonic maceration making for a juicy, gluggable wine that has the freshness of Beaujolais, but with more depth and weight and none, absolutely none, of the bubblegum aromas that, for us, spoil so many wines that undergo intracellular fermentation. It is bottle without filtration, so it’s slightly hazy and there will be a little powdery sediment. 11.5% alc. A blend of Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch. Drink now-2020.

Press review:

Jancis Robinson
(previous vintage): "Macerated cherries and cocoa nose – liquid Black Forest gâteau. Unexpectedly sharp on the palate, as if Morello cherries were sliced with lemon and then dusted in very dark cocoa. Fresh and lightly chewy with fresh basil. Probably good with a light chill. Drink 2017-2019." 16 points
