The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Meunier, Dundee Hills, Oregon 2016

52.00

Pale as a ghost and as ethereal and delicate as a Trousseau from the Jura, this Pinot Meunier comes from a block planted in 1965, which was the first Pinot Meunier to be planted outside Champagne. Its amazing ageing potential is completely counter-intuitive, given its pale colour, which would suggest that it lacks the structure to last beyond a few years, but a recent tasting of Oregon reds saw one of Jancis Robinson’s team give the 1975 vintage 18.5 points and a ‘drink by’ date some 44 years after the vintage! Decanter described this vintage as “ethereal” and awarded it 97 points. 12.5% alc. Drink now-2040.

VERY LIMITED. DUE APRIL 2019.
