Man alive, this has got its groove on! It’s funky, but not too funky. Just a little James Brown shuffle, not the full Huggy Bear. It’s a pure Cartoixa Vermell (a pink skinned variant of Xarel-lo) that was aged in amphora and old barrels, so it has a lot of fascinating aromas going on, notably apricot kernel, terracotta, peach stone, dry bark, white cherry and sweet herbs. The de-stemmed grapes saw 3 weeks of skin contact, which extracted colour and some light tannins from the skins, so you get a slightly textured mouthfeel. Drink it with a tagine or paella as it can stand up to robust flavours. 12% alc. Drink now-2020.
