"A very fine Champagne." - The Wine Advocate

Champagne is expensive to produce, which is why it's expensive. It's a complicated theory to digest, so let's not waste time untangling its complexities here, but suffice it to say that a Champagne that sells for less than £20 these days should probably have the words Hazchem written in yellow across the front label and have warnings about possible side effects.

So, we should celebrate a Champagne like this elegant cuvée from Jean Josselin, which is extremely well-crafted as well as affordably-priced. It's fairly light and pretty and works as an apéritif as well as with canapés and light starters. Now if only we had something to celebrate with.

The Wine Advocate: "NV Cuvée des Jean Brut is 100% Pinot Noir based on two vintages, here 2011 and 2012. This Champagne bright citrus-colored Champagne offers a lovely, precise and fresh nose with white fruit and discreet strawberry aromas. Light and very elegant on the palate, this is a very elegant, delicate and round Brut that has been disgorged in December 2015 with a dosage of 7.15 grams per litre. Very nice grip in the stimulating finish. A very fine Champagne."
