Chateau Coutet, Barsac 2005 (37.5cl)

A wonderful sweet wine from Barsac, which is so similar to Sauternes, yet with its own particular character (slightly lighter thanks to the sandy soil), that I managed to identify it correctly in my Diploma Blind Tasting exam. The advantage of this being a tasting note is that you can't see me doing my victory dance. Anyway...

Jancis Robinson MW: "Hint of bronze, blossomy on the nose. Very full and intense and has absolutely MASSES of weight. Unmissable. You could slice this in two. Most impressive. This should live for almost ever. Very neat finish. Acidity well hidden." 19 points

The Wine Advocate: "Passion fruit, white peach and nectarine, then a hint of white flowers. The palate has a good level of botrytis, quite minerally, nice tension with dried apricot and spicy, quince flavours coming through on the linear finish. Time should mellow this out. Excellent. Drink 2012-2025." 92 points
