Absolutely love this! Alberto Nanclares separates this parcel from his eponymous Albariño, because it comes from a vineyard based on clay soil, which gives a different aspect to the wine. There's a gentle floral lift to the aromas, as well as a mouthwatering sour cream quality, like natural yoghurt or crème fraiche, which gives the wine a pleasant tang, set against toothsome notes of key lime pie and lemon posset. Aged in large (2,000 litre) oak casks, it's strangely reminiscent of a Grand Cru Chablis, thanks to the sheer energy of the fruit and its expansive breadth on the palate. We never get very much of this cuvée, so grab it while you can.

Press reviews:

Jancis Robinson: "Smells very different from the Nanclares. Still has ripe fruit but also a more complex creamy quality from the foudre - though not in the least oaky. There's an inviting rich spice note too. Tastes almost yeasty on the palate, like a champagne without the fizz. Intense and long and amazing fruit intensity for moderate alcohol." (JH) 17 points
