Jancis Robinson: "100% Alvarinho from Monção et Melgaço. The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed without the addition of sulphur prior to the pressing, no maceration was done, the wine decanted at low temperatures for 48 hours, fermentation and 12 months’ ageing took place in an oval 1000-litre used vat and 2nd year 2,000-litre oval vat of eastern Europe oak. The indigenous yeast alcoholic fermentation was done in less than three months and malolactic fermentation was complete. The total ageing was done with no sulphur during 12 months in the presence of the lees, but without stirring. TA 6.1 g/l, pH 3.34, RS 2.3 g/l.

Very pale gold. Complex, spicy and intensely aromatic: orange and apricot with an aroma that suggests this is going to be sweet on the palate. But it is dry and extremely complex. Gorgeous depth and length and still extremely fresh on the finish. So tangy, with those apricot flavours lingering on the finish that tastes bone dry. So complex and obviously still has a lot of complexity to come with time in bottle. Still a baby. Deep and long and so complete at a miraculously low alcohol. (JH) 12% alc." 18 points
