NEW! Closson Chase Vineyard Chardonnay, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada 2017

17.95

Our quest to bring you the finest wines known to humanity took us to a vineyard on an island on Lake Ontario! It’s here that Closson Chase produce this stylish Chardonnay with its hints of butterscotch and cracked toffee on the nose that lead to a palate of lemon blossom, hazelnut, vanilla and cedar. It’s a very calm and composed wine, confident to harmonise the rich and toothsome elements with the vivid and zesty elements. It tastes like a white Burgundy that spent its gap year in California. 13% alc. Drink now-2021. Hand harvested, barrel-fermented, aged in French oak (10% new).

Press reviews:

Jamie Goode:
“Nice texture and weight to the pear and citrus fruit with a bit of structure and some oaky notes. Very harmonious with a lovely citrus aspect to the fruit. Very fine.” 93 points

And there’s this linguistic car crash from Michael Godel: “The posit tug between fruit and tension is so strong it extends straight through the great lengths traveled all the way into the finish. This CCV has rarely if almost never moved with such circulative pace, in fact, there are a lurching and a wraparound effect, of acidity and structure encapsulating the fruit. Safe, bound and secure as it can be in the present so that the unwind will bring more and more pleasure. When texture arrives on the scene this will have come full circle, back to and in completion of fine union. It's penitent and courteous, a function of winemaker Keith Tyers' understanding of vineyard and vine. Drink 2020-2027.” 92 points (NB This is an actual review by an actual human being, not something Google did trying to translate Sanskrit into English)
