Here's the perfect dinner party wine if you want to impress without spending a fortune. It that looks smart, tastes even smarter and will make your friends think you are a genius. It's a blend of Macabeu, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris sourced from vineyards near Perpignan and aged in oak for 9 months. The silky texture and the harmony between oak and fruit is befitting of a more expensive wine than this. There's lemon and grapefruit to acidulate the creamy notes of vanilla and tonka bean. Is it jaw-droppingly fabulous? No. Is it beautifully made and extremely well-priced. Absolutely. 13% Drink now-2018.

Jancis Robinson: "Oak scent works very well here - integrates nicely with the citrus fruit, and gives a spiciness to the palate. Moderate persistence, upfront flavour - nicely done."

The Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Côtes du Roussillon Blanc is a blend of equal parts Macabeu and Grenache Blanc that was vinified in stainless steel and aged all in new demi-muids (which you’d never know from tasting it). Very light in colour, with fresh citrus, crushed rock and lime, it’s medium-bodied, silky and elegant, with beautiful purity. Drink it over the coming year." 90 points
