Press review:

Tim Atkin MW:
“Fans of this wine - and I’m in the front row every time - will be delighted to hear that production has risen to five barrels in 2017. Planted in 1968, this two-hectare vineyard is a thing of wonder. Musk, nutmeg and herbal, green apple flavours, incredible intensity and length and an undertone of old wood. One of the Cape’s greatest whites. Drink 2020-2030.” 98 points

The Wine Advocate: “Only four barrels made. Iron soils. First single bottling vintage was in 2014 and increased slowly. Some Palomino, Crouchen, Sémillon, Muscat, False Pedro (the Portuguese variety Galego Dourado) interplanted in 1968 to less than 10% of the whole, the rest is Chenin Blanc. Broad and salty nose. Very open – even a little honeyed – but much denser and deeper than the average Cape Chenin Blanc. Really chewy on the end. Savoury Chenin! A Chenin that needs a knife and fork. Drink now-2026.” 17+ points
