David & Nadia 'Skaliekop' Chenin Blanc, Swartland, South Africa 2016

52.00

Only 780 bottles were produced of this single vineyard Chenin Blanc grown on a shale (skalie) hill (kop) in the Paardeberg. Whole bunch pressed, minimal sulphur, wild yeast fermentation. 5 ***** Stars, John Platter Guide. 14% alc. Drink now-2022.

Press review:

Tim Atkin: “Like Hoë-Steen, this is another single barrel Chenin from the Sadies, although Skaliekop comes entirely from the Paardebosch farm and is grown on richer soils. The result is a denser, more textured wine, showing flavours of banana bread and pear, a drizzle of honey and a taut, structured finish. Drink: 2016-22.” 95 points
