Envinate Taganan Blanco, Tenerife, Spain 2015

19.95

This is Envinate's 'entry level' Tenerife white and we preferred it to their limited single vineyard cuvé, the Parcela Amogoje, which is great news, because there's a lot more of it and we can't pronounce Amogoje. If you like a lot of minerals in your Blanco try this bottle. It's like breaking open a rock with your face (without the concomitant concussion and abrasions). The aromas swirl with quarry dust, sea spray, struck flint, smoke and citrus pith, but the palate is fleshed out with wonderfully ripe apricot, sweet lime and grapefruit syrup, so it's both mouth-watering and deeply satisfying. If you like the flinty style of white Burgundy, this amazing Tenerife white won't feel wholly alien to you, but its vineyards sit on a volcano in the Atlantic Ocean and that really shines through on the palate. 13% alc. Drink now-2020? That drinking window is a bit of a guess to be honest. It's hard to know how these extremely mineral wines will age.
