If you need an angle, then you may be interested to know that this comes from the highest vineyard in Europe (no doubt a disputed claim), but records mean little if the wine isn't tasty and this certainly is. It's made from a little-known grape variety, called Prié Blanc, and the flavours make you think of mountain air and glaciers and cow bells and Heidi skipping through a field of daisies. There's actually a serious weight of fruit here, cooled by a touch of something creamy yet tangy (from the 8 months spent on the lees), like creme fraiche, reminiscent of the white wines from Savoie. This would be a wonderful accompaniment to hard cheeses. 12% alc. Drink now-2020.
