If this Chardonnay waltzed into any Chardonnay party anywhere in the world, it would immediately be ushered into the VIP room, because it's an A-Lister without a shadow of doubt. In New Zealand it would find itself sharing sofa space with local celebrities like Kumeu River, Bell Hill and Dog Point, but it's so classically-styled that it would also turn a few heads in Burgundian circles too.

It's a wine that oozes style, but in an understated way. Like a good suit, the quality is in the finer details, the stitching and the lining. There's some beautifully defined fruit here (all hand-picked), which is woven through a skein of nutty oak, but it's the way they harmonise that elevates this Chardonnay to another level. Everything is in perfect proportion. Drink it chilled, but not ice cold or you will lose all the subtleties, like the pick stitching and the floating canvas. 13.5% alc. Dink now-2019.
