Ravishing!

It was tempting to leave this review as succinct and simple as that, because it's the perfect word to describe this wine, with its crystalline fruit and its scintillating energy, but why use one word, when 207 will do. The key here is 'low yields', in other words fewer bunches per vine, which can be likened to a pupil-to-teacher ratio.  A vine (teacher) with lots of bunches (pupils) will struggle to give proper nutrition (tuition) to each bunch, meaning that the bunches lose concentration. A vine with fewer bunches (in this case about 7 or 8 per plant) will see its pupils developing stronger character and thicker skins thanks to all the extra attention lavished upon them and their concentration levels will increase. These are privileged grapes.

This Meursault 2013 shimmers with tantalising citrus and stone fruit flavours, bristling with energy and a quartz-like pulse. It's the perfect balance between trendy reductive winemaking and classic old school white Burgundy, so you get a bit of the fashionable 'struck match' effect, but it never dominates, so that the main impression is gorgeously vital and opulent fruit, evoking crystalised lemon peel,  tangy apricot, crème patissière, butterscotch and grapefruit marmalade.  Ravishing!  Nothing more needs to be said. 13% alc.
