Simply put, this is the best Australian Chardonnay we have ever tasted. It was sandwiched between a bottle of Puligny-Montrachet 'Les Grands Champs' P&L Borgeot 2014 and a Ladoix Premier Cru 'Les Grechons' Domaine Chevalier 2014, so the context was demanding, especially as the Ladoix was exceptionally good, but this wine took things to a new level and the astonishing thing is that it comes in at only 12% alcohol. So much fruit insistence and persistence with so little alcoholic clout it's almost baffling! If you are in any doubt as to whether Australia can challenge very serious white Burgundy, then you ought to try this, because it's the gamechanger we have been waiting for. Drink now-2025.

Press review:

James Suckling Top 100 Wines of 2017: "This is a very attractive and deceptively powerful Chardonnay from a high-altitude site (500m), and one that delivers a latent, smouldering depth on the nose. Toasty, hazelnut-like oak breathes up through flinty complexity and a wealth of white peaches, melon, limes and grapefruit. The palate's super taut, really succulent and powerful, holding this thing tight for start to finish. Electrifying tension to this wine; new heights have been reached." 97 points
