We wouldn’t call this an orange wine, as it has more of a light onion skin colour with a hint of rose. Much of that colour comes from the pink tinge on the skins of the Semillon Gris grapes, which saw 10 days of skin contact. It’s a beautiful, cerebral, textured wine for people who want to pause and reflect over what they are drinking. Seek and you may find aromas of quince, daisy, coriander leaf and nashi pear. The palate is silky and elegant and deals its flavours as slowly as a sleepy croupier. 12.5% alc. Drink now-2022+.

Press review:

Tim Atkin MW:
“Now sourced entirely from one grower in the Swartland, this is a vineyard-based mix of Semillons Gris and Blanc. Naturally fermented with no added sulphur dioxide, it’s a South African take on a traditional Georgian white, showing phenolics, vinosity and texture and flavours of quince and wild herbs. 2018-2023.” 95 points
