If you get on a roller-coaster, it's because you want a white knuckle ride and it's the same with Etna Bianco. If your idea of excitement is running through fields of wheat, then this is not the ride for you.

This is a loop-the-loop of minerals with a double-back barrel-roll of tangy citrus fruits. Sourced from 6 different parcels on Etna's north face (versante nord), it is made predominantly from the Minella Bianca grape (60%) plus 40% of other varieties native to the area (Inzolia, Catarratto and Grecanico). The aromas testify to the soil that is rich in volcanic ash, as well as the salty Ionian Sea, but the intensity of the fruit is such that it shines through all the mineral elements, bringing grapefruit, mandarin and preserved lemons to this truly amazing wine. Not for the faint-hearted, but a wine that will leave you wide-eyed and trembling from the astonishing G-force of its flavours. 12% alc. Drink now - ? We suggest you decant the wine before drinking to allow it to show its best.

Winemaking:

The vines average 45-50 years in age. They are hand-tended, without chemicals or fertilisers, and hand-harvested. The juice is fermented spontaneously in concrete tank and macerates with the skins for 5 days with no temperature control. The wine is then aged for 8 months in large. used oak barrels (botti). Only 2000 bottles produced in this first vintage.
