Your'e welcome. Well, it would be disingenuous of us to thank you on this occasion, because we've done you a good turn here. This is a Viognier, whose vines grow no more than a few feet away from Condrieu vines, whose wines sell for almost twice the price. If the cartographer mapping the Condrieu appellation had hiccoughed while he was tracing his pencil along the border, then these vines would be in.

If you can afford a bottle of Villard's Condrieu 'Le Grand Vallon', then more power to your elbow, but wines like this, which touch the hem of greatness, are grist to our mill. It has classic Condrieu aromas of apricot, white peach and wild flowers, which glide softly onto the palate, but it also has a vital bite of something tart like bitter lemon or quinine, which keeps it keen. It's oh-so delicate and would make a wonderfully elegant aperitif or you could drink it with seafood dishes, especially in a light sauce, such as scallops in lemon cream. 13.5% alc. Drink it young, so drink from now to 2018.
