“Waterkloof 'Circumstance’ Sauvignon Blanc 2017 is really something special.” - Jancis Robinson’s Wine of the Week

Press reveiws:

Tim Atkin: “Partially aged in old wood for eleven months, this lees-influenced Sauvignon Blanc combines texture and weight with a savoury bite and focused lime and grapefruit flavours. 2018-2020.” 91 points

Jancis Robinson MW: “Waterkloof, Circumstance Sauvignon Blanc, Stellenbosch 2017 is really something special. It has that intensity and slight wildness that I find in so many wines from biodynamically grown grapes. One expects Sauvignon Blanc (grown outside Sancerre and Pouilly-sur-Loire) to be showily aromatic but this one smells so damned natural, and the bone-dry fruit even has a Loire-ish undertow of stoniness. I noted, 'Intense crystalline acidity with a certain wet-stone character. Really very good value with its own very particular character. Excellent grip on the end. An appetising blend of nettles and chalk. Very Good Value', and suggested drinking it any time from now until 2021.“

Jancis Robinson (Richard Hemming): “Combines restrained, green fruits with a touch of oak spice and lovely flinty elements. Full and lengthy with excellent balance between the soft acid and pure fruit.” 16.5 points
