This is ‘textbook’ Central Otago Pinot Noir. Its deep, glossy colour would be a sigh of relief for any MW student doing their Pinot Noir tasting exam, as it’s clearly not from Burgundy or the Jura or even Marlborough and the aromas would confirm it, showing classic Otago notes of juicy black cherry, blackcurrant jam and kola spices. There’s a wonderful, silky sheen to the fruit on the palate, with wraparound tannins that feel as if they are saturated in ripe, juicy fruit. 13.6% alc. Drink now-2025.
