If Mowgli had been raised solely by that lazybones, Baloo the Bear, then he may well have grown up to be a feckless jungle urchin with no sense of purpose. Equally, if Bagheera the Panther had been his sole parent, then he might have grown up to be too cautious to survive in the wild. Together, however, they made a great double act and raised him to a fine, well-balanced young man. The same goes for this wine, which counterpoises ripe, loveable, soft-bellied fruit with a necessary backbone of bright acidity and well-behaved tannins. A pretty, succulent, supple, ripe Pinot Noir from the Sunshine State with juicy flavour and no hint of jamminess or grapes suffering from sunstroke. Think sweet strawberry fuit, cherries soaking into sandalwood, tangy raspberries and hints of black tea and hibiscus followed by a tangy rhubarb acidity to keep all the flavours moving and adding to its moreishness. 13.8% alc. Drink now-2025.
