Dominique Joseph, known to his friends as ‘Pelo’, is one of the most gifted winemakers in Saumur and, like a great vocal coach, really knows how to make Cabernet Franc sing at the top of its voice. There is so much clarity to the fruit in this wine, it’s a wonderfully pure expression, showing cassis galore, as well as rain-soaked hedgerows and blueberry cordial. Pelo calls it his ‘Vin de Soif’, but we think he’s underestimating it with that slightly flippant term, it has a lot more integrity and complexity than your typical glou-glou wine. 12.5% alc. 100% Cabernet Franc.
