We fell in love with this at first sight, because it pours into the glass like glossy, black cherry juice. It’s a pleasure just staring into its inky depths and maybe it’s autosuggestion, but it also smells and tastes not too dissimilar to black cherry juice too. It’s a lovely, full-flavoured Australian Cabernet, but it avoids the alcoholic wallop that often accompanies Ozzie Cabs, weighing in at a pleasing 13% abv. There’s an elegant sheen to the wine, a sense of healthy, ripe berries married to a cool freshness that makes it really appetising. Made by Rhen Dodd (also of Jamsheed) and his pal, Dale Wheeler.
