“Delicate and intense at the same time. A wine of real beauty.” - JancisRobinson.com, 17.5 points

What an absolute stunner! If, like us, you have a weakness for a wine’s aroma, as much as its flavour, then we invite you to stick your schnoz in a glass of this glorious Jura red! It’s a treat for all the senses, but it’s your sense of smell that will be doing the biggest jig. It’s a blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard (hence ‘Trois Cepages’) and those aromatic varieties combine to create a truly heavenly scent. You will find morello cherries, meadow flowers and strawberries, but there’s an alchemy at play that creates new aroma molecules, which are hard to describe, like smoky gravel and burnt orange (told you!). The palate is lithe and silky and despite its pale colour and light body, it has ample, succulent fruit. A beautiful wine and a wonderful alternative to the wine it emulates: Chambolle-Musigny. 13.5% alc. Drink now-2030.

Press review:

JancisRobinson.com: “This is the historic red cuvée from Domaine du Pélican. They have been producing it since their inaugural vintage, in 2012. At the time, they decided to vinify together all of their red grapes and thereby created this blend of Pinot Noir (60%), Trousseau (35%) and Poulsard (5%). Élevage is in burgundy barrels (50%) and foudre. Unfiltered. Light, bright crimson. Juicy and lively with both red and dark-red fruit. Pure and with a light dusting of stoniness. This is a wine that draws you in with its pretty and vibrant fruit and then holds you captive with freshness, super-fine tannins and great length. Charming but not in the least insubstantial. Delicate and intense at the same time. A wine of real beauty. (JH). Drink now-2029.” 17.5 points
