“Truly outstanding value – Michelin three-star quality at a bistro price.” - Ferran Centelles, former head sommelier at El Bulli, now writing for JancisRobinson.com

A brand new wine from this exciting project in eastern Galicia, which comes highly-recommended by Ferran Centelles, ex-El Bulli sommelier and now Spanish specialist for Jancis Robinson.com. It’s a field blend of old-vine Mencía, Merenzao, Brancellao and Garnacha Tintorera sourced from seven tiny plots located in the lieu-dit ‘Peirón’, which gives the wine its name. The grapes were foot trodden with 40% whole clusters in open 500-litre barrels, followed by a delicate 25-day post-fermentation maceration, producing a red of silky finesse. It has the weight and texture of a Pinot Noir, but the chalky, mineral inflections of a classic Galician red. Only 2,000 bottles produced. 12.5% alc. Drink now-2034.

Press review:

JancisRobinson.com (Ferran Centelles): “Violets, pencil lead, chalky notes and striking minerality define the nose. This is both tense and weightless, vibrant yet expressive. It evolves beautifully in the glass, revealing tart red fruits, blueberry and redcurrant, along with a fresh sapid profile. Chalk, herbal hints and blackcurrant emerge with air. A delicately expressive wine with great finesse. Truly outstanding value – Michelin three-star quality at a bistro price. Incredible value for money. Very Good Value. Drink now-2035” 17.5 points
