I’m not saying this wine is seductive, but you wouldn’t leave it alone with your partner. It’s a red Burgundy (Pinot Noir) with a really exotic bouquet of sweet cherry, kola nut, the ripest strawberries, Chinese tea and grenadine. If it were a perfume, it would be hand-blended from pomegranate berries and middle eastern barks and would have a coterie of lovesick swains following it around. It’s a very expressive red Burgundy from the little-known village of Vezelay, where a wine’s quality can shine, thanks to limestone soils, sunny slopes and careful parcel selection, without it being able to command high prices based on its name.
