There was once a brilliant bronze sculpture on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square which showed a hand with a really, really long thumb pointing skywards titled ‘Really Good’. That’s how I feel about this wine, it’s not just good, it’s reeeaaaaally good! It’s Marco de Grazia’s new Etna project, having sold a significant stake in his Tenuta delle Terre Nere, while cunningly keeping ownership of some of the best plots on the northern slopes, including Bella Colonna. The warm and dry 2024 vintage has produced a wine of comforting depth and richness, with creamy cherry and piquant cranberry, while still retaining Etna’s extraordinary imprint of smoky, volcanic intrigue.
