If, once upon a time, you fell head-over-heels for a Pinot Noir and then embarked on a love affair with the grape, only to be disappointed by too many fruitless Burgundies and extortionate Californian examples, then we want to play Cupid and make you fall in love all over again and we think this is the wine to do it. It’s a masterclass in aromatic seduction, with its stunning bouquet of wild strawberries, grenadine, satsuma peel and sweet cherries, laced with exotic, middle-eastern balms and aromatic resins.

The palate is pale and hauntingly beautiful, deceptively rich in flavour, despite being light in body, with cashmere tannins and juicy raspberry acidity - a watercolourist’s interpretation of the grape. Prepare to find your heels flying past your head once again. 13% alc. Drink now-2028 (it will last longer if you prefer more maturity, but I see no reason to wait if you love Pinot Noir at its most seductively fragrant and delicate)

Cherries and kirsch, raspberry coulis and an abundance of exotic spices with some twiggy, whole-bunch punch, chinotto and a blood orange tang, too. In other words, there’s complexity and detail. Fruit and oak tannins frame the mid-weighted palate, which is plush and almost sensual. Overall, tannins are silky and glide across the palate helped on the way by fine acidity. This is a beguiling wine, to say the least; it offers so much intrigue and diversity both aromatically and in the mouth. The wine is already evolving so gracefully, telling me that a night spent with Doug('s Vineyard) might be a night well spent. It is supple and gently chewy. What a wine. Drink now-2037.” 95 points

 JancisRobinon.com: “Limpid crimson. High-toned red fruit but dusty, earthy and cardamom-spiced, too. Juicy purity, lots more spice-inflected red fruit on the palate. A stony minerality. Quite savoury, but plenty of energy and drive. And fine, grippy texture. Very distinctive. Drink now-2029”
