A wine that feels both sun-warmed and impeccably composed, like it’s been quietly rehearsing its entrance for a few years before deciding the timing is finally right. The nose is immediately seductive: deep morello cherry and red-fleshed plum glide alongside creamy blueberries and blackcurrant, all wrapped in a swirl of kola, orange peel and an irresistible fruit-soaked wood note. There’s a high-toned, polished oak character here, but after five years it’s settled beautifully into the wine — less shouty, more smouldering. Add a touch of violet, a flicker of tangerine, and a gentle hum of spice, and suddenly you’re wandering through a late-autumn hedgerow somewhere warm and sunlit. On the palate, it’s one of the smoothest operators you’ll meet. Every edge has been carefully rounded off until the whole thing just glides—silky, seamless, almost on rails. It carries the perfume and lift of a Pinot Noir, but with the southern French warmth dialled in: juicy, generous, and laced with Syrah’s floral notes and a pinch of pepper. There’s richness, yes, but also a breezy lightness of touch, with bright acidity keeping everything fresh, buoyant and dangerously drinkable. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Carignan and 10% Mourvèdre from 40–60-year-old limestone-grown vines, cropped low and aged 18 months in old oak, it balances concentration with grace. It’s perfectly poised to drink now but will happily keep charming the room through to 2030. 13.5% alc. Organic certified.

Press Reviews:

Tamlyn Currin for JancisRobinson.com: “I just want to sit here and smell this wine. It smells like home-made mulberry jam on the day it was made. It smells like sitting around the first fire pit of the year when it’s too damn cold still to do anything but huddle close. And then you all smell of smoke and so does your pillow the next morning. It smells like irises in full bloom, like thyme when you inadvertently stand on it. It’s velvety, but also gravelly; it’s sweet, but also a little stern; the tannins taste of ink and feel like punctuation marks. Somewhere in the wings, there is a whisper of roses. It’s delicious and full of feeling. This bottle seems so much better than the one I tasted last year! It will probably age, but quite frankly, I’d drink it now. Drink now-2031.” 17 points
