NEW! Appenheimer Riesling Trocken, Weingut Knewitz, Rheinhessen, Germany 2022
“Just the sort of top dry German Riesling to convert wine lovers – better than many GGs” - Jancis Robinson MW
A dry German Riesling sourced from the Erste Lage (Premier Cru) ‘Eselspfad’ vineyard and the Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) ‘Hundertgulden’ vineyard, partly fermented in wood and partly in stainless steel. It’s a wine with verve and energy, as well as real depth, showing juicy peach and lime as well as a shimmering minerality, even a slight saltiness, which works in tandem with the acidity to awaken the palate. 13% alc. Limestone-rich soils. Drink now-2034.
Press review:
Jancis Robinson MW: “Explosively fruity nose – like a bouquet of spring flowers. Crisp acidity and only just ready to enjoy, in my book. Real concentration of mineral flavour. Just the sort of top dry German Riesling to convert wine lovers – better than many GGs*. Long. Drink now-2031.” 17.5 points
* Jancis is referring to Grosse Gewachs, which is the highest level of dry German Riesling, whereas this wine is ‘only’ an Erste Lage
