Capitel 2019 is made from 200 year-old, pre-phylloxera Verdejo vines located in the small plot of Peña Aguda, in Nieva. The roots penetrate between the slate sheets and extract extraordinary mineral intensity, complexity, concentration and depth. Sophisticated, oaky and Burgundian apart from the lovely apricot fruit. Deep and rich and incredibly long, a fabulous wine of intensity and refinement. As Jancis Robinson said of an earlier vintage (she hasn’t reviewed the 2019 yet) “it smells of luxury”.
