Very occasionally, we buy wines on trust without tasting them and this is one such occasion. As quantities are so tiny, samples weren’t available, but we have followed the domaine for over a decade and we have complete faith in this wine.

Burghound: “From vines planted in 1947. More subtle if not imperceptible wood frames the more floral-scented nose of citrus rind, pear and a whiff of petrol character. The more refined and restrained, if not as concentrated, flavours possess evident minerality on the youthfully austere, long and beautifully well-balanced finale. This is excellent and highly recommended.” 92 points and ‘Outstanding!’

Vinous (Neal Martin): “The 2023 Rully Margotés 1er Cru comes from vines planted in 1946. This is more reticent on the nose compared to other cuvées. It's quite austere with crushed stone and light apple blossom aromas. The palate is lightly spiced on the entry, oddly reminding me more of Semillon Gris. This is rather pithy, with hints of nectarine and grapefruit and a slight attenuation on the finish. It's very fine. Drink now-2040.” (90-92) points
