This is a wine that makes sure we get up on the right side of the bed every morning. It’s such an exciting white Burgundy that we would happily tell all our customers about it in an unnecessarily wordy email, but we simply don’t have enough to go around, so well done for finding it of your own accord. Your reward is one of the best sub-£40 white Burgundies you are likely to find. It could easily be from one of the ‘star’ names, like Lucien Le Moine or Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, with its flinty aromas and wonderful sweep of flavours that remind us of walking past a French patisserie with notes of warm brioche, lemon meringue and apricot tart. It has the concentration of a Premier Cru from a famous appellation, but it’s just a humble Santenay village wine. Bachey-Legros is a name that should be on every Burgundy-lover’s lips, as should a glass of this wine. 13.5% alc. Drink now-2030.
