“Chalk flew up!” exclaimed John McEnroe back in 1981 and we said the same thing 42 years later when breathing in the aromas on this wine. It’s like walking through a freshly excavated quarry or a marble sculptor’s studio. Those mineral aromas lend a Chablisesque character to this Savagnin (not to be confused with Sauvignon Blanc), sourced from the cool-climate region of the Yarra Valley. It’s wonderfully tight and stony, yet there’s an ample core of riper orchard fruits courtesy of the Australian sunshine that flesh out the mid-palate, keeping it lean yet succulent. 13% alc.
